belated move post 2

and so, i have moved again. this time i am living in the city of elgin, illinois. i am so happy to see more life here than in bremen. i am also happy to be away from that douchenozzle i previously lived with. oh, and i did file a complaint about the landlord. i do not know the outcome, and i doubt i will, but, i don’t really care about those people anymore. bremen didn’t count. this move will. i still have yet to land me a job, but there are plenty of opportunities. and once i get a lock for the bike, i’ll be able to extend my search range even further. there’s a mall not too far from here, and several shopping centers. there’s likely one place that would be crazy enough to hire me.

on other news, my laptop’s power adapter finally crapped out, so i am stuck using my netbook. at least it performs well enough (now that i took the time to tweak everything to my liking), so i can do what i need to do. i’ve already established my main goals after i actually find work. first i’m going to pay off verizon so i can get my regular phone online again. then i’m going to get a new case and PSU for my main PC (or, at least a new power adapter for my old laptop).

no heathens

I’m getting kicked out of my apartment. For not being Christian.

Let us rewind to this morning. Well, early afternoon. Because I went to bed late and was forced out of bed by my landlord. I was on the phone with the real landlord, and he wanted to talk to me about Jesus, and the bible. He wanted to invite me to church. He offered to let me borrow his bike on the condition that I look for work daily, and that I spend 15 minutes per day reading the bible. I refused. Why? I do not want to be converted to Christianity. I was raised Catholic, went to a Catholic school, a Christian high school, then after that, I went my own way. And I am not turning back from that. The only reason I would ever step foot into a church is if it is with my own family. Or if it’s with my friends from high school. Other than that, no. I will not be dragged into Christianity again.

Early this evening, I was told by my landlord that if I don’t get a job this week, or if I don’t change my heart, I am going to be kicked out. Fine. Whatever. I already have a plan B. It was my plan A before I had an interview with Burger King on Thursday. I am still waiting to hear from them, but I am working fast on this plan. At this point, I don’t care if BK doesn’t hire me. I want out of this place.

Now, before you say anything like “you can sue him” or whatever…No, I can’t. There is no binding contract or agreement. They are not legally obliged to let anyone stay here. I’ve been working off my rent during the past couple months, but that doesn’t mean anything. So, no.

There’s only one thing I have to say to them, and it’s right at this youtube link below:

belated move post

oh, right. i forgot to make a blog post about my move. it went well, the train ride was quite pleasant. it got off to a bit of a rocky start — i missed the check-in time, and the computers that printed out the tickets were down. but, i was able to get on and put my luggage in the cargo area. when we reached reno, i got my tickets, and found out that i could check in my baggage at chicago. my original plan to spend the whole two days playing FFIX didn’t happen — i spent the time enjoying the scenery and watching videos on my netbook. though, i did play some FFIX and FFVI.

fast-forward to making it to my new home — that, too got off to a rocky start. there were issues with the landlord getting paid on time, and my roommate keiro went to nebraska to stay with his girlfriend for a month. we finally paid the landlord, and everything seems fine now.

i am still unemployed, but i am doing some computer work for the landlord, and i am getting paid for the time taken to change out the electric outlets and winterizing the apartment. the electric outlets were one obstacle in getting my server back online, as well as the shortage of power cables. the power cable situation was helped yesterday. i went with the landlord to pick up a computer i found for him on craigslist, and the seller had spare power cables and a vga cable for my monitor. we also got a cat, which makes things interesting considering we have a dog as well.

on monday, i plan to go down the street to take some sort of test for a job with the us census. i’m not sure what this test entails, but i will find out soon enough. i’m also going to apply to a few places around here. my options are somewhat limited, but i’m sure i can find some place that will hire me.

i’m out of here!

At some point in November, I will be moving to Indiana. This decision has been made because I have been unable to find any work for the past three months, and I am almost out of money. I don’t know which day in November I’ll be making this move. It will probably be on the 15th. The plan is to go on some sort of road trip with a friend. He will drop me off at my destination and head to his destination. Yes, I’m going by car.

Right now, I am preparing for the move – packing up my stuff, and figuring out what I can take with me in order to reduce shipping costs. I’ll have to figure out how much my friend’s car can hold. Once that’s done, I’ll need to think of how to deal with my furniture. Obviously, I can’t take it with me. It’s more of a timing issue -when I should dismantle it and possibly sell it or donate it to Goodwill (which is kinda funny, considering that’s where I bought my desk).

You might be wondering why I chose Indiana. Not only do I have a place to stay there, but I also have a possible job opportunity. I also feel that it will give me a chance to turn my life in a new direction. Once I’m financially stable again, I plan on starting school, and doing some of the other things I said I was going to do at the beginning of this year.

Things might have turned to crap over the past couple of months, but it’s given me something to look forward to….a fresh start in a new place. Let’s hope I don’t fuck it up this time. :D
